Primordial Filth are an emerging, Sheffield-based collective consisting of the artists Mia
Colman, Jim Ever, Jack Mackness and Ava Ord. Their collective practice is rooted in exploratory
work looking at intersecting post-industrial and natural landscapes, considering fundamental
processes through the integration of their respective disciplines.
The cohort formed in early 2026 after they were selected for a new artist development scheme:
Pathways, run by Bloc Projects, having been scouted from the BA and MA Fine Art courses at
Sheffield Hallam. The collective now work together through collaborative making, site visits, and shared research.

‘Microfilth is a textiles-heavy show with undercurrents of ritual, bio-art, ecology and industry. The mini-show celebrates an expansive range of processes and mediums: weaving, cyanotype, sewing, fabric staining, found material, silver gelatin printing, drawing, and more. As a group Primordial Filth have been thinking about the non-human influences our in work; how invisible forces and microscopic changes in the atmosphere can integrate with creative action. In Microfilth, we have endeavoured to observe and channel these unseen collaborators.’
